Tyler Orton is a reporter and web editor at Business In Vancouver newspaper who specializes in B.C.'s tech sector.
Prior to BIV, Tyler worked as a multimedia reporter for 24 Hours Vancouver, where he focused significantly on municipal politics, criminal court cases, small businesses, real estate, Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside and affordable housing.
As a freelancer, he’s worked for a host of community papers across Metro Vancouver including Abbotsford News, Bowen Island Undercurrent, Burnaby NewsLeader, Cloverdale Reporter, Langley Times, Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows News, New West NewsLeader, South Delta Leader and Tri-City News.
Tyler graduated from Langara College’s journalism certificate program in spring 2011.
He previously studied political science and history at the University of British Columbia, where he earned a bachelor of arts in 2007.
After graduating from UBC, Tyler worked for the investigations department at eBay, Inc. There, he investigated reports of fraud and site-policy violations, and spent an extended period of time overseas where he trained the e-commerce company’s outsourcing partners.
